Any Francophile will tell you that the crepe and the baguette are top contenders when it comes to iconic French fare. La Petite Crêperie backs them up with everything from the background music to the welcoming "bonjour" from staff.
This cafe offers breakfast and lunch to go. Otherwise, feel welcome to take a seat and have a chat with Gatta-Castel in English or French. It’s a no-fuss menu, but choosing a crêpe filling can be a pleasant predicament to be in. Goats cheese, fig-and-ginger jam and the classic lemon and sugar are just some of the options.
The fresh baguettes are brimming with quality meats, including boned lamb leg and German beech-smoked ham. You can’t go past the traditional French pudding either. It's soaked generously in rum and filled with sultanas.
The glowing red signage may read “Arrogantly French”, but don’t take it the wrong way. It’s more a tongue-in-cheek nod to the Gallic stereotype than any real representation of the atmosphere or attitude you’ll find here.
